About Rohr Balloons

Chuck Rohr and his son Brian, are both highly accomplished commercial pilots and instructors. Chuck has won numerous championships, including the Kool World Pro Balloon Tour in 1980 and continues to follow his passion for flying. Brian started developing his ballooning skills at the age of 6, and has since grown to be one of the top competitors on the balloon circuit, most recently winning third at the 2006 North American Balloon Association (NABA) National Championships and 2006 Texas State Champion. Both Chuck and Brian also hold additional aircraft ratings, such as fixed wing and LTA airship.

Chuck launched his ballooning career in 1968 after reading a magazine article about hot air balloon happenings in New Mexico. He traveled to Albuquerque and experienced his first flight. Soon after, he received his license and has been airborne ever since, adding accomplishments to his list along the way, including holding a FAA flight examiner license since the early 1980's. Rohr Balloons permanently opened it's doors for business in 1978. In addition to his 1980 Kool World Pro Balloon Championship, he also holds awards such as: Great Balloon Race - Bahamas to US 3 time champion, Florida State champion, Illinois State Champion, Texas State Champion, among others.

Chuck's adventures began long before his ballooning escapades. Following a pro-boxing career, he embarked on off-shore power boat racing and was a yacht captain for General Motors for several years. Chuck later involved himself in being a professional stunt man and producing movies.

Brian has followed in his father's footsteps from early childhood. From a copper balloon basket stroller as a child to 1999 NABA Nationals Rookie of the Year, he has been a competitive commercial pilot since 1993. Brian owns and operates the North Texas port out of McKinney, TX providing Champagne balloon flights over the beautiful countryside.
